Wonderful. Yes, unfortunately, children gradually lose the openness that results in their being able to spontaneously see and hear those who are in the spirit realm. There's no doubt that your father was there.

The fact that your father stayed close to the Earth plane means he was probably watching out for your son in his anxiety about the hill. It also could be part of your spiritual growth experience. Everything happens for a purpose.

Your family is sensitive. That means that you and your son not only will be able to communicate more easily, but you'll be making it easier for your father and others to come through. They need the love, sensitivity, and openness you have to be able to make the communication. They're in a little of the same dilemma on their side that we are on ours. They need to go to mediums just as we do. They need to lower their vibrations to communicate just as we need to raise ours. It's work on both ends, and sensitive, loving, open people are key to it happening.

You also, being sensitive, may have made it possible for your ex-girlfriend to see your father. When someone is sensitive or a medium, that makes it possible for others to have experiences in his presence. The fact that you didn't have the experience means you may have needed to learn that you have to trust that you are a spiritual being, and what goes on with your real self, your spiritual self, is guided by the Higher Power, with your willing cooperation, and you'll receive what's best for you. And she may have needed to learn the spiritual lesson you already know. There's always a reason.
